Competitions All Over the Place.May 5, 2016
We have a whole crapload of inexpensive, local competitions heading your way in the next several weeks. Up first, at the low, low price of Zero Dollars and conveniently located at the gym you already go to is our own Team Games.
Signup on the benchmark WOD’s board before AM friday and then, this Saturday from 10-12 noon we’ll unleash the fury. Based on the people signed up I’ll divide the group into 2 or more teams and you will get your WOD’s the day of. Movements and loading will either be accessible to all OR you will have the opportunity to divide the labor amongst your team as you see fit, so your strong girl can do your deadlifts and your little athletes can do your burpees etc. Emphasis is on teamwork, communication and fun. This is at the Gym, not the beach.
MURPH, the classic Benchmark will be Memorial Monday. Rxd is: Run 1 Mile, 100/200/300 Pullups, Pushups, Airsquats split however you like, Run a Mile. Half the volume is a common scale. Check last year’s time and beat it, or SET a time for future comparison.
June 4th, Saturday at the Battleship NC, is the FireFighter’s Fitness Challenge, I believe the money raised goes to the scholarship fund of the child of a firefighter killed in the line of duty (but I could be wrong). Three person, same gender teams, Three Events total: Mile Run with an odd object (team runs together, sharing the load). Max rep Thrusters in 10 minutes at different weights, heavier weights equal more points per rep. And some measure of Tire Flip, specifics unknown. I had hoped to participate with John and Rob and but my schedule is changing such that I am forced to miss this. BUT that possibly opens up two 40-something killers for you all to recruit. Cost is $120/team. Looks to start at 9:30 and go to 2 or 3 pm. If you are interested start assembling your team asap.
